Camping Gear Checklist

Here is a rundown of my favorite camping gear! It’s some of the best gear we enjoy for camping and overlanding. If you’re a first-time camper, you should bookmark this page since we’ll be updating it routinely. We like to call it our “Must-Have Camping Gear Checklist”!

Best Camping Gear for the First-Time and Experienced Campers and Overlanders

  • Coleman Dual Fuel Camp Stove — Runs camp fuel or unleaded gasoline. 1 gallon of Coleman Liquid Fuel lasts as long as 4.5 cylinders of propane.

  • Coleman Quad LED Lantern — Super bright as one unit. Smaller units break off for quick trips to the potty or tent. We absolutely love this thing!
  • Coleman Compact Folding Camp Table — Conveniently folds down into a small bag. Takes a minute to setup and solid enough to set stove with room to spare.
  • Camping Kettle/Teapot — Small, lightweight aluminum allows you to heat up water for coffee, tea, or instant ramen. Comes with mesh bag.
  • Reliance 7 Gallon Water Container — Good quality, decent on/off spout, easy to grip and fits well in vehicles and truck beds between wheel wells.
  • Coleman Tent Kit — A must-have to keep your tent clean. Comes with a small broom, dust pan, mallet, and extra tent spikes.
  • Coleman 12-Piece Stainless Steel Flatware Set — Has a great fold-up case that makes it a breeze to travel with.
  • AeroPress Coffee Maker — This is my absolute favorite way to make coffee while camping. I’ll explain why in a featured article.

  • Coleman Cold Weather Sleeping Bag — If I had to buy just one sleeping bag, it would be this one. Works great for cold nights and if it gets too warm you can always sleep on top of it and use a light blanket.
  • Cast-Iron Skillet — You can cook/fry/bake literally anything on these things. Burn them over your open campfire or throw them on the Coleman stove. I prefer the big 12-inch so you can cook a lot of food at once.

Don’t Forget…

That’s most of the big stuff. But don’t forget these little things that will make your camping experience better. In my camp box I keep bug spray, bug candles, matches, fire starters, toilet paper, first-aid kit, batteries, and a few other tidbits. Over-packing is never fun, but neither is spending double at the camp store or gas station. Be prepared!
